Kate Somerville x Plastic Oceans

Every year we produce over 300 million tons of plastic. Of which, 150 million tons is designed for one-time usage. 8 million tons will end up in our oceans.
100% recyclable packaging by 2025.
Understanding our part in harming the environment was eye opening – and impactful. So we are taking steps as a company to be part of the global solution, and will be aiming for 100% recyclable packaging by 2025.
-
Minimize Shipping/Packaging Waste
In 2018, we stopped using plastic packing materials. In 2019, we reduced the size of outbound shipping boxes and switched to recyclable paper. We’ve also removed the plastic trays from our kit packaging.
-
Apply The 3rs Of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle In All Packaging
In using FSC Recycled Paper, we ensure that all wood/paper in our packaging comes from re-used materials. By 2025, we aim to have all packaging be 100% recyclable or recycle-ready.
-
Use Glass & Ocean Waste Plastic Containers
In 2019, we started using glass bottles for some of our new products, including Liquid ExfoliKate® and Kx Active Concentrates.
-
Reduce Our Use Of Non-Essentials Single Use Plastic
Every day, we look for ways to eliminate plastics at our Kate Somerville Skin Health Experts Clinic as well as in our corporate headquarters.

We invite you to watch the award-winning film, A Plastic Ocean. An epic global adventure following a filmmaker and a world record free-diver as they travel the earth discovering the shocking impact plastic is having on our oceans and the marine animals that live there.
